Turbo manifold 7afe

Hey everybody, just have a quick question. I am wondering if i can use a honda D series turbo manifold (with 7afe flange) or if everything, like runners, fit better with a B series manifold. I can get either a d series tubular stainless tig welded turbo manifold or a b series cast manifold. Both are around $40, and they are really decent quality(i've held both of them). The tubular is really really nice : ) completely tig welded! The cast is really clean looking. Both are flanged for a mitsu 16g turbo. kinda odd, but they fit to a spare 16g turbine housing like a glove. Remember, it's for a 7afe. I just want to know whether the 7afe flange is easier to fit to the runners on the b series or d series manifolds. thanks to anyone who can help!

Just remember you can't weld to cast iron.... I was just reading through some stuff i think on 6Gcelica.net and someone said that B16A manifolds are relatively close and can have the honda flange cut off and a 7afe rewelded on

best way to tell if a given manifold will work is to go to the parts store and compare the manifold gaskets...for pipe size and placement...

You could tig weld cast iron, but you'd have to preheat the piece and do some other things that aren't readily available to a do it yourself kinda guy. I was thinking more of a high temp brazing. There's a process that brazes at like 1800F, far higher than exhaust temps can normally reach, but i'm not sure if that's safe for cast iron.

But thanks for the idea 94_rolla, kudos

Brazing wont hold in those conditions. Your turbo manifold temps can be 1000C (about1800F) after a hard pull.

Preheating with a torch and then tigging and letting it cool down slowly (oven cooling, sand cooling) should make you a decent weld. HEck you could even stick weld it if you wanted to. With a correct stick shouldnt be a problem.
