Brake Light Grounding!!
Hi All,
I own a 1990 Corolla and could use some help! I noticed recently (actually it's been a couple of months now) that my 3rd brake light, the one on the rear shelf, had stopped working.
The first thing I tried was replacing the bulb, no luck! Next I checked the fuses, they all appear fine. So I did a little research, and I have come to the conclusion that it is a bad ground connection on the circuit. First of all, does this sound like the correct diagnosis? Or at least, is this the next thing I should be looking at?
I started tracing the wires back from the light and soon lost them somewhere under the carpet, at about the middle of the rear seat. Now I'm thinking, do I really want to continue to tear the interior of my car apart? So, does anyone know where abouts I should look for grounding points? I figure if someone has gone through this, they could probably tell me where to start looking, and I can avoid pulling apart too much more of my car.
Also, could I just re-ground the circuit myself? Somewhere more local to the brake light?
Any suggestions or advice will be most gratefully received.
Thanks,
