Need help interpreting warranty

Hi,

I have a 2000 corolla. Does anyone know how the warranty works on specific parts of a Corolla? For example, are parts like brake pads and serpentine belts covered? What is the normal warranty time frame for parts like these?

Brake pads and belts are considered consumables, that is they are consumed in the normal operation of the vehicle, therefore they aren't covered under warranty. Pads usually last around 40,000 kms, but that can vary greatly with quality and driving habits.

Serpentine belts can last for 1-5 years, but you should replace them according to the service manual. It isn't goodtimes standing on the side of the highway waiting for a towtruck because you didn't feel like replacing a $30 belt every other year.

Hi,

According to the owner's manual, Toyota's Limited Warranty provides:
- 36 month/36,000 mile comprehensive coverage
- 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain coverage
- 5 year body panel corrosion perforation warranty.

I thought the comprehensive coverage meant all parts (including brake pads, belts) are covered for the specified time. If there is anywhere I can go to get more specific info regarding this, please let me know. Thanks.
