No of course it won't run, Removing the batterey when the car is running is very bad, your lucky nothing blew.
Test (with the engine running and everything connected) that you have 13~14 volts across the batterey, if not then you alternator is sick.
Test (with the engine off) that you have 11.5~12.5 volts across the batterey.
Then tell us what you fouund.
