AE92 Have you CV joint removal tips?

So I've been hammering away at my CV joint for the past two days and I can't seem to get the darn thing off.

I'm hoping that someone can give me a tip as to where the best place is, to hit the joint, in order to get the joint off.

Does force, that hits the joint, have to be parallel to the axis of the axle?

I really appreciate any tips or input, thanks in advance!

I'm trying to pull off the wheel-side joint on the driver's side of my Ae92. From my experience, it's supposed to come off easily, but it's not doing that. I guess I just have to force it off. but yeah, lemme know what you think.

is it even possible to remove the outboard joint?

That's where i've been hitting it to get it off of the spline.

Yes they do come off, you really need a press to do it. It took almost 6 tonns of force to pop mine out (on my brothers press).

If you can't use a press, then heating it with a gass torch and smashing it with a hammer is your next best bet.

Note: both of these methods will probably destory the joint, but thats fine cos it's probably wrecked anyway.

Punter, the way AE92 CV joints are made, they're practically impossible to take off without destroying the joint.

Yea I know been there done that. Though I did manage to get 1 of my ae101 joins off with only a little damage.

Usually the entire CV half shaft is replaced with a new ($110) or remanufactured one ($70). If you do not use a press for removal, the CV joint will be damaged.
