2ZZ-GE Ecu's

So my sister has an '05 XRS i was just wondering if the Celica GT-S ECU / Lotus Elise ECU would be interchangeable with it? Since these ECU's are a lot newer I was thinking that the Celica/Elise ECU would be controlling items different from the Corolla... anyways let me know... thanks!!

if your looking for more power I don't think that it's what you need
ther's apexi that make an ECU to lower the xrs lift timing but the are not cheap

They are 100% NOT compatible. If you are looking for a better ECU or just better ways of tuning check out APexi's Power FC, GReddy's e-Manage, e-Manage Ultimate, and the new V-Manage. Theres also the Hydra EMS. Thats prolly your best bet. Lower lift, better furl maps, it'll be way better than even the celica/lotus Ecu's. They'll run you anywhere from 800-1600 bucks. I think people had luck with the Hydra now that it has most of its bugs cleared up

You should look into VVTL-i tuning with hydra EMS. It has been done on a few Corolla XRS before with lift engagement at 5700 rpm and rev limiter up to 8700 rpm. Hydra has worked all of the bugs reported by those Corolla XRS owners.

Remember, it is not as simple as just lowering the lift engagement since that is the easy part. The real tough part is tuning VVT portion to give a flat and strong torque curve across the rev band so you would need a professional tuner's help.

This 181 whp Hydra XRS might pique your interest:

If they can sell and tune it for a reasonable price you can afford, I would say go for it since it will wake up the car. I plan to wait until I get Fidanza 7.5 lbs flywheel and ACT clutch since the ECU tune is affected by how the bolt-on mods change the power and torque curve of the car.
