Celica GT4 Engine into '90 Corolla

Would the engine from a GT4 go into a '90 Corolla easily (just the engine) with the standard mount's or will these have to be moved?

Has it been done before?

(not to bothered about the 4wd by the way)

Also, is there a 2wd gearbox that will fit the GT4 engine or can the standard 'box be capped in some way or form?

Many Thanks.

Cheers Aaron.

Why so much ?

Also, could you tell me what the model code and engine code is for a 1.6 16v Corolla '90?

Cheers again.

Which 1.6 are you referring to? In the North American market, the 1990 AE92 came with the 4A-FE and the 4A-GE, both 1.6L 16V twincam engines.

All i've got to go on is what my mates trying to find out, it's a UK spec 1.6 16v 1990 Toyota Corolla FWD, that's all i've got to go on :p .

And the fact that he want's to know if you can put the 3S-GTE (1990-'93) engine into it and what need's changing in the bay itself and what accesories you would need to make it work.

Not sure if those would be the same codes as used in the UK or not, but thanks anyway.

Is there a 2WD 'box that will fit onto the 3S-GTE engine?

Or would there be a better turbocharged 2.0l to use from the Toyota stable thats kind on the cash front?

Well, I'm told the 3S will bolt up to the AE92 frame with minimal mount modifications(??!!), but you'd have to ask him exactly what was done. As far as a tranny goes, look for a 5speed 4cyl Camry, or a celica of the previous 3 generations with a S series engine (non ST models).

Oh, and does his current engine look like any of the pics in the first thread in this forum? (4AG engine pics)

What kind of major modification's would be needed to fit the 3S-GTE into the car in question?

Is the sw20 an MR2 engine?

SW20 is the chassis code for a Gen2 MR2 Turbo (It has the 3S-GTE engine)
