How do I mark timing???

I'm in the process of pulling the head on my 98 Prizm and have never pulled the head on a DOHC motor before or anything OHC for that matter - only old school pushrod engines.

I'm at TDC on cylinder #1 (yes, that is my high precision screwdriver used for measuring TDC ). The picture below shows the cam sprokets. Where is the best place to make my marks

looks to me like you're 180 out.. set the the crank to 0. cam gears dots pointed up.
mark the chain link at the gear mark.

Are u pulling the timing cover?

also, its an interference motor, so dont have it at tdc when u tighten down cams

Yep - I was off 180. I didn't zero the mark on the crank. The timing cover will be coming off, but my factory manual said to set TDC on cylinder 1 before pulling off the crank pulley and other acc in the way of the timing cover.

Actually, the chain links have 3 marks on them (diff colored links). 1 for the exhaust cam gear. 1 for the intake cam gear. and one on the crank gear.
You can also use this to line up your timing if you some how forgot.
