seems like so much work and $$$. Since your car is pretty new, wouldn't it be cheaper to trade your car for a manual, eliminating the celica gt tranny/clutch/tranny = $$$$$$.
i understand the 5spd conversion, but doesn't the mr-s 1zzfe have the same specs as the corolla's? (correct me if i'm wrong) it'd be more benefitial to go aftermarket. what have you done to the engine already?
i havent done anything to the engine. im planning on making it stronger. im not gonna do crazy shit in it, so im not worried about blowin' it.
i just want to get stronger internals, but i dont want new forged pistons, i tought OEM toyota parts would be good enough, but since the new corolla is the same, and the celica GT sucks, i guess ill have to go with MRS parts.
would it be hard to install the trans? maybe ill get the one off a newer corolla.
There's big-bore and forced-induction kits for the 1ZZ-FE in the Spyder, that might be worth a look for starters.
Or, if the MR2-S is anything like the 1st-gen MR2s, the mid-engine RWD mounting of the 4AGE translates into something pretty adaptable to front-engine FWD, so you can borrow transmissions...
the 1zzfe is not interchangable between the celica, corolla, mr2....etc.
there are small differences in each engine. the placement of things for starters. i am currently helping my friend rebuild his 2000 celica engine and while the engine looks pretty much the same, there are a few differences. if you have the money to spend to modify...more power to you.
