Engine Swap

Would the supercharged engine out of the '88 '89 MR2, I think its a 4AGZE, fit in a '92 Corolla originally with a 4AGE? What would I have to do for the transmission? Thanks

the engine itself should fit. but there are some minor differences in the engine. the block is pretty much the same but the placement of things is different. as far as the transmission...just call a toyota dealership and just ask them for the specs. just have your vin ready to give to them.

Pgates I think there are probably about 01923874019820928479 threads on this swap on this forum alone and this question gets asked like 7832492 times a week. ** Please ** oh please oh please try doing a search.

Me I'm keeping the original tranny and storing the E series just in case. (at least that is my decision for now)

btw I have finally scrounged enough cash to start putting my engine back together. I should have some new progress on my web in the next few weeks or so - yes I work slower than molassas. (family comes before the car)

Not much of interest here but take a look if you want ...

I am working on a post that should answer all the Corolla engine swap questions, but I will need a lot of help since I have not done any of these swaps. So be ready to correct me and add information so we can put the thread in the "Read me" section.

Yes the motor would fit, you could use the same transmission from the 4AGE (C52 is the code) which is not meant for the Supercharged version of the motor but it will take some of the abuse (no hard launches or burnouts or you will eventually kill it)

You could also use the E53 (correct me if I'm wrong) transmission from the Japanese FWD Levin and Truenos with the 4AGZE, you will need the axles as they are different from the 4AGE and C52 axles.
