Canada Rear wheel noise but no play

Hi,

My right rear wheel makes some humming noise. There isn't any play when I jacked it up and moved the wheel up/down/left/right.

However, when it's jacked up, i tried turning the wheel, it sounds louder than the other rear wheel. hummm..hummm....

Is it the bearing that is causing the noise?
If yes, should I change it?
If I need to change it, is OEM better or non OEM is the same?

Thanks for your help.

Mike

More than likely it is the bearing. I had a front bearing go bad in mine. It was loud as hell when driving but had no play. It wasnt till I actually pulled it off when you could feel the bearings catching. I replaced both sides and it was a world of difference. You really need to replace it if not both sides. And as far as OEM its all preference. If you want to spend an arm and a leg at a dealer than go ahead. I got mine from a Advanced.

Canada Fixed

Thank you, it was true, the wheel bearing was causing the noise.

I tried looking for the parts from after market and dealer. Toyota only design the whole hub and not just the bearing.

I sent it back to Toyota to get it fixed. It cost me $450 for the part! the total bill came to $620 ! That's too expensive!

Anyway, I had bad experience with after market stuff that's why I went for OEM this time. But the OEM might not be worth it, as the warranty is the same as after market.

Anyway, thanks for the help, at least it's fixed.

cheers.

If my wheel (left rear) does move a little bit when i jack up and move, then mostly what's wrong with it?

you check a bearing two ways, jack it up and see if there is some play in the wheel, there should be none. And the other thing you do is spin the tire to see if it spins freely
