What is happening with my Corolla 2007

Hi,

I bought a new Corolla last Steptember. its local mpg has never gone beyond 25 mile/g. I asked the dealer, who said it is normal for new car. But I don't believe it. now it has more than 5000 miles on it and supposed to be past that set-in stage. it did not getting any better. Actually, during the winter time now, it goes only about 22-23 miles/g. my 15 year old camry gets about the same mpg.

There are a couple of other problems too.

1. a couple of weeks ago, it suddenly started to choke and went dead. had to get it towed to the dealer and they said that my engine and spark plugs are flooded. however, that is not the problem I know because only after the choking and engine died, did I stomp on the gas padel, when I perhaps flooded it. The dealer don't buy my explanation.

2. this is supposed to be a very quire car, but my engine is not quiet, especially when you accelorate (I am a very careful driver and never jam the gas padel), there is a lot of noise.

What do you suggest?

Thanks.

About the gas milage - Are you carrying many passengers, or a lot of stuff in your trunk? Do you go up a lot of hills? A lot of stop and go driving, many short trips? Is the gas in your area an alcohol blend?

All of these things can contribute to poor gas milage.

2007 gas millalge

I just bought my Corolla the first of the month and I have gotten 34 mpg on the first two tanks. Flat ground in Florida. 1/2 city 1/2 hiway. Very pleased.

New cars do frequently get less then desirable fuel economy. And i don't beleive you can flood a new car by flooring the gas when its off..sicne everythings electronic and not carburated...

And to the final question..what kind of sound does the enginge make?

Donald's questions are not questions to me

as I said before, my 13 year old toyato Camry is quiter than this new car and getting its top mileage while doing all the same jobs as my new Corolla, getting the same gas, etc.

I have had a 84 Camry (bought used), a 93 Camry (bought used), a 99 Sienna and this 2007 Corolla. Because of the previous wonderful experiences, I loved Toyato, but only this brand new one caused me a lot headache.

If I can't flood the engine when it is dead, then why did it die? and before that, why did it start to choke for no reasons? Is the car just like Microsoft Windows? I don't believe either.

the noise is normal, I think. it is just like that there is not enough power to bring the car to the speed. Maybe I used to drive Camry and Sienna which are more powerful, and this smaller engine does not live up to my expectation.

COuld have a bad o2 sensor that is flooding the engine by providing the incorrect signal (lean).

There is something wrong with your car. Even in the wintertime you should get close to 28 or more mpg in town. Have it checked out because you may be prematurely ruining your engine due to a malfunction somewhere. Mine runs great with 215,500 miles.

Hey, I am only trying to help!

There is information in your post that I have quoted here that was not in your first post. As hard as I try I can't read minds too well. You never said that your Camry is driven under the same conditions as the Corolla, and I don't want to make assumptions.
