Strange noise/vibration coming out of my AE92 sedan
ok heres the deal, i was racing with a dude in a parking lot, then about the end of the parking lot (we didn't see it until it was too late) there was this dip and i got launched a foot or so into the air. now the car is making a deep gutteral sound (sorta like an aftermarket exhaust) when it's at rest or at low (under 2000) rpm, and the sound gets drowned out by the engine at higher rpms. the car runs as well as it did before this happened with the addition of the noise and the drivers side vibrating. the vibrating also goes away at higher rpms. i inspected the underside and under he hood but i can't see anything loose or damaged, and i only hear/feel this from inside the car, if i get out and rev it, i can't hear the noise. it sounds like something coming out of the exhaust so i'm thinking that there might be a hole or bend or crack or something in it from the impact. it's too dark/cold right now to fully inspect the underside but i have no clue what it is. the sound is definatly coming from the area under the front seats, but the vibration can be felt in the drivers seat and in the steering wheel. anyone have any advice? thanx in advance.

i just realised the sound isn't an exhaust sound, but something that i hear while moving at a low speed (under 20 mph) that goes away after i speed up, but returns after i slow down. it's sort of a grinding sound. anyone have any ideas?

a little more info, i can hear the sound mostly when im going in reverse and when i initially turn the car on (before i start moving, as is cranks) could it be a wheel bearing if i hear it whemn the car isn't moving? or is it something else?

i just went out and looked over the car and lo and behold, there's a crack in my exhaust manifold! right down the center, i also noticed my oil pan is mashed in. it's most likely my manifold or could that have something to do with it from the symptoms i have? i didn't see any physical damage other than oil pan and the exhaust crack, could it be a transmission problem or is it definately the exhaust? (i hope to god it's the exhaust).

.... and if its badly mashed in, your oil pickup is fucked up. Thus your engine has been running without proper oiling, thus your connecting rod bearings probably are fucked, thus you feel vibration... nice way to learn how stupid racing in parkinlots is.
lol well first things first find out if thats exactly whats wrong with the car...

alright thanx for the help all, it doesn't seem to bad because the vibration/sound goes away after i start driving. it only comes when i first turn the car on and when put it into reverse
