Help: Car Not Driving

I just changed the oil on my mom's 2002 Corolla S, and after finishing I cranked it up and when i put it in Drive it wouldnt go forward. It just rolled backwards; after giving it some gas, it would inch forwards a little, but then starts rolling back again. It drives fine in reverse, just not forwards. It was driving just fine before the oil change.
Its a 2002 Corolla S 1.8L , Automatic. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

There is no difference in L or 2; it still does the same thing.

check the fluid level on the Transmission dipstick. you might have accidentally drained the ATF instead of the motor oil. The tranny pan is on the driverside, and the motor oil pan is on the pass. side.

That very well is possible, but the thing is, I drained about 4 quarts of some 'brown' liquid; and I'm pretty sure that the car doesn't hold 4 quarts of ATF. Also, I refilled 5 whole quarts of Motor Oil into the engine and it didn't overflow, so I'm also pretty sure that I drained the engine. But I'll go ahead and look into the trans fluid level tomorrow though.

Alright, the dipstick for ATF shows empty. But I can't find the fluid reservoir in the engine bay. Where does it go and do I need to refill all 4 quarts that I drained yesterday?

WHat do you mean "didn't oveflow?" Should you be working on a car by youself? You don't "fill" an engine with oil, you should check that too or you'll lose the motor with 9L of oil in it. It should only hold about 4, tops.

As for the ATF, you definitly drained it, get the info on how much it needs and top it off.

Then, once it moves, have a garage check the fluid levels, because I'm worried you don;t know what you're doing and you'll lose the engine and/or tranny

Err that is because you screwed up.

What you are supposed to do ...

drain the engine oil take out the engine filter replace engine drain plug and install new filter then fill up the engine with oil.

What you did
drained the transmissionoil took out the engine filter replace engine drain plug and install new filter then fill up the engine with oil - doubling the amount in the crank case leaving the transmission bone dry.

EDIT: I thought I better put this in.
To fix ...

Take out BOTH drain plugs and the engine filter.

Get someone to drive you to the nearest toyota dealership. (see this way you cannot buy the wrong tranny oil)

Admit what you did.

Ask them to sell you the correct transmission fluid for your mother's car.
Purchase more engine oil and a new filter while you are there (yes in most cases OEM filters are better than store bought)

On the way home stop buy an automotive shop and buy a funnel capable of fitting into the transmission fluid dipstick neck.

Install the engine drain plug into the engine oil pan and not reverse.
Install the transmission drain plug into the transmission oil pan and not the reverse.
Install the OEM engine filter.

Fill up the engine with the engine oil.
Check the engine dipstick ensure the level is between the full and the fill marks.
Insert the engine dipstick

Start the car and fill the transmission with the transmission fluid you got from Toyota as described below.

Take out tranny dipsick and look at the fill marks there are 'hot' marks and 'cold' marks. You want tobe looking at the 'cold' marks and not the 'hot'
Put the funnel in hole - fill the transmission with only 1/2 of a bottle of fluid at a time.
Fill with 1/2 a bottle - check level repeat untill you are at the correct fluid level for a cold engine.
If the level is correct install the transmission dipstick
Slowly drive the car around the block stop once or twice and back up a few feet.
Check the fluid level again when you get back ... still using the cold marks.
Top off if needed.
Check the transmission fluid level.

Take the car back to toyota, have them verify the fluids and levels before you screw up mommy's car.

You add ATF by pouring it down the trans. dipstick tube. Make sure you check ATF level w/ the engine RUNNING, after you've cycled the shift lever from Park - all the way down to 2, and back up to Park. check the marks on the dipstick. There should be a cold fill, and hot fill mark.

Also very important - you'll need to drain the engine oil ASAP since it has been grossly overfilled. Again, check the dipstick for proper levels.

Welcome to TN.

I hope the tranny isnt messed up. Autotrannies dont like driving with no oil, they die quick.
Also you already ran the engine with DOUBLE the oil it needs, hmm... goodbye seals and gaskets.

I just hope you didnt mess the whole car up too much.

Oh and next time, when we tell you you drained the ATF, dont start to argue, since the symptoms are right there. If you cant admit you messed up, stop working on cars right now.
