Ever expeience a timing belt slip?

I think my timing belt slipped as air seems to be being pushed out the intake as well as the exaust, does that sound about right?

usually if it slips, it only slips one tooth or so... and just causes it to run poorly..... it happens, but rarely....

if you get backfires through the intake... generally your ignition is way advanced

they can jump a few teeth or sheer a few teeth and go out of time, just look at the belt and see if its broken or missing teeth.

if it slips it's time to replace it. THe only way I see this happening is if
A The tensioner is finished
B belt is streched
C belt is missing teeth

In all cases you have to replace them so it sounds like it's time

How would you have checked that if I may ask, before I jump on the bandwagon of timing belt failure. Because personally I dont think thats the case here just yet.
