2003 Corolla, at below minus 20 degrees C., the running lights have come on by themselves when parked at night and drained the battery. Any one else have this problem?

crazy. my friends 2002 Corolla did the same thing. No problems with the lights except when it was -36 (with windchill). Havent found the problem, but since its not the cold we havent been able to reproduce the problem either. I'm thinking it has something to do with the sensor to turn them on. When it gets really cold out he keeps a jumper pack in his trunk just in case.

I took this car to Toyota. They parked it overnight. Minus 25 degrees with the wind chill. Running lights came on again all by themselves and drained the battery. Replacing headlight switch today. $300.

Last say on this issue: There is a Toyota service bulletin out on this. In frigid weather the headlight switch may fail on some models. Replaced "dimmer switch" Number 84140-02170 total parts $250.74. Labour $49.00. Plus tax. Ouch! 132,000 kms so out of warranty.
