Air Intake: K&N vs HKS

Brief history-
I have a 88 GTS (AE92) with ST springs and Koni stock replacement shocks and struts. Also have a cat-back HKS Sport Exhaust.

1. Now aside from the price, anyone know any performance differences between the two?

2. Does someone have the inlet measurement for the air intake? Trying to see what universal adapter to use for the HKS super mega flow.

hks=higher hp figures on the dyno...but it filters next to nothing.

if this is a daily driver(which it probably is), then i say go for the k&n for realiability's sake...

the engine has got to be high mileage...u dont want any more shit to get in there than there already is

also the hp difference between the two is neglidgable(sp?)...
u can make up the 1 or so hp difference elsewhere

I have both style of filters.. an HKS-style foam filter, and a K&N-style cone filter. The foam filter is awesome if you're at the track and stuff, as it increases the air flow a lot more than the K&N cones, and the sound made by the intake.. *boing!* but that's all they're good for.. I would suggest you use a K&N-style cone filter for everyday driving, your engine will be safer and cleaner.

As for the Universal adapter, all you need is an AFM adapter bracket for Toyota, remove the air box and then bolt the adapter and you can now add a filter to your car... remember, you cannot remove the AFM from the intake, or your car won't run properly.
