Installed Cosmo SRI...

Alright, I installed the Cosmo SRI on my 05 rolla and the dreaded check engine light came on. Upon installing the intake I removed two sensors from the stock. I reconnected the MAF to the pipe. What is the other sensor? It has two small tubes, one going back to the firewall and the other tube was connected to the engine. Anyone know what the problem is? Right now the tube from the engine is connected to the port hole next to the MAF and the tube from the sensor is connected to the port hole next to the filter. Hope that makes sense.

It's hard to follow, can you snap a picture.

All you need to do is remove the stock airbox,
Put the MAF in the SRI and connect it, then

the pipe that they give you, which connects to the engine and the SRI.

Make sure check all your vacuum tubes for any leaks. I kept the black cap on the small nipple. I wasn't sure what it was for and left it alone and it was fine.

Did you oil your filter?...Also where are you located. I have heard some people getting a CEL pending on the climate.

Anyways, good luck! :-D

Humm, climate is a minor factor. It's just i've seen more people in the northern parts, having more chances of CEL, than those in southern climates. Like those guys in SoCal, ..but thats just a guess...

Try checking everything over, disconnect the battery for 60seconds and then reconnect it. - be sure to oil your filter, and let the engine run for like 4-5 minutes after you install the sri, without driving so the engine gets used to more air.

g'luck

Alright, I took everything apart. Re-tightened the hoses and clamps. MAF is connected and filter has been oiled on initial install. Drove around yesterday and light didnt come on. This morning check engine light came back on. Any ideas?

Yeah, I had it disconnected while I reinstalled everything. Connected the negative back on the battery and let the car run for 15 minutes and took it for a spin. The next morning it came back on

Only thing I've done was disconnected the negative wire yesterday when i reinstalled and tightened the hoses. How else to clear it?

get a code reader and reset it...you can borrow them from any Pep Boys, Salvo, and i *think* Autozone provided you don't leave the premises with it.

Hey, it sounds like youre experiencing the same problems i had. And if it is it should be a simple fix hopefully. The second sensor you took off is called the VSV connector. I hooked the hoses on backwards and that made the check engine light come on. Go to a toyota dealership and ask them if you could look under the hood of one of their corollas to see if you hooked the vsv connector on properly. If thats the problem then all you have to do is switch the hoses to the correct position disconnect the negative battery cable for a couple mins, reconnect them and all should be well. Lemme know how it goes.
