Well, I only had Saturday due to weather conditions, and the new GE needed some TLC so here are some pic's of what I did get done.
Here she is... its up little on the jack, not high suspension.
Motor after about 4hrs of cleaning it... gotta get those cam covers coated.
This kinda scares me... I found these pieces in the back of the head on the intake side. Don't see any issues in the head itself, possibly from past work?
Another engine pic...
Hope to put up more progress pic's next week, or after. Hopefully rain will not be a factor next weekend.
Ciao,

step 1: submerge entire motor is anti seize.
step 2: pray
step 3: make friends with someone working at toyota so you get good prices on stuff that breaks.
step 4: have fun!

Well there is already a quarter litre of oil, and a bit of conditioner sitting in each cylender. Hopefully that will make for a clean startup. It turns over by hand without a problem.
Those pieces are metal, and look polished on three sides, and rough on the 4th, I am unsure as to what they are, and I hope they dont cause me problems.
...And its not bondo, its fibreglass... I should have taken pic's of the other side, as it is closer to finished.

Originally posted by project trueno hope those pieces aren't from the cam itself! because the intake cam on my 4age has a little small chunk missing not from the lobes though of course
or it could be dried up gasket packing, is it gold/bronze in colour? could be that "Ultra Gold" sealer
i hope it's a crank journal that would be kool! too bad it isnt
