Whats my car worth?? anyone interested?

hi guys well alot has been happening and im getting really tired of the car, its got some issues as some know it needs an engine due to oil burning and toronto's dam drive clean....

I have really been thinking hard and im thinking its time to move on to something else before i go insane, maybe you guys could help me, im trying to find someone thats interested in the car.

the details
- 1994 corolla LE
- 1.8L 5spd
- electric locks and windows

the mod list is long and i will try not to leave anything out

- replaced kyb gr2's
- painted 2005 cobalt blue (not a very good paint job)
- recently rebuilt transmission
- 2002 celica seats installed
- some interior work done
- full exhaust system (2.25") with header and 2.25" converter
- eibach prokit installed front OEM rear Will give the eibach rears
- panasonic headunit
- fiberglass kick panels with 6.5" component audiobahns
- fiberglass moulded box in trunk with 10"
- tinted (not the best)
- have snows and 16" summer wheels

I got a shitload of spare parts that can come along with the car or go seperate

if anyone is interested shoot me a PM or let me know what i should ask for the car if i decide to advertise...

mods do not affect the value of the car. part it out, return it to stock, and sell it - you'll make more money if you do that.

You provided me sith some advice when I replaced rings and seals on mine and your not willing to do the same with yours? Are you sure it needs a new motor. Or would a ring and seal job fix it? It worked for me.

Otherwise i just paid 2400 for my 93 plain jane prizm, but it's very clean with only 55,000 miles on it.

If you think it needs a motor, well then you probably won't get much. But with a 5 spd and mods done you may have luck finding some kid that likes it and is willing to put the work into it.

Good luck

Completely untrue. If we were talking about trading in a newer car, I'd agree. Even selling a newer car. But you're looking at a 13 year old car here. Odds are it's going to be a "kid car" and those mods are going to up the value considerably.

What I'm wondering is, why sell it? Like tnmk said...it's not just seals and rings? And besides, swapping the engine out really isn't that huge of a thing on a Rolla...a LOT cheaper than another comparable car.

I have to agree with the mods upping the value. This is a kids pocket rocket we're talking about. If a lot of the things he would want to do are already done, he'd be willing to pay more. I know I would on a car like that. But also agree that I wouldn't on a newer car.

Its going to take you longer to sell a car with mods because you limit your market.

If I'm reading the classifieds and I see anything in the description that says mod, I'm moving on. When I see a modded car, I assume it was driven hard. It may not be right 100% of the time, but I'm not taking a chance.

Mods don't make young people pay mroe for a car. Most young people will buy used aprts..and mod the car for less. Wtf? My CF hood was 200 bucks lol, I bet that would bump my cars sale price up a grand though to a young person?

As I said in your other thread, which i can't figure out why you made two.. $3000 at the most, With the mods. Otherwise, it's jsut a 13 year old econobox. No Mod's (or even just no rims) I'd say 2500obo max.

The thing is there are alot of problems and moreso im just getting bored, I mean i can dump $10,000 and overnight parts from japan (LOL) and its still gonna be a 13yr old slow ass corolla

Ive looked into the engine and things are too far out of tolerance for a simple ring job and back in im into a whole rebuild bore and hone, machine crank, deck block and head, refresh the Cyl head, i figure im into a solid $1500 for that crap then i still have other aged parts to take care of....

I haven't decided exactly what to do, im trying to rally the parents into letting me get a newer car for transportation and then keep the rolla for fun, maybe do a swap or something... i donno im not getting anywhere in a hurry...

with the engine issues, you won't get more than $2k for that car, by the way.

and those people who say that mods increase the value have apparently never tried to sell a modified econobox toyota.

im a young car owner (only 17) and i have 2 say, alot of my mates would rather pay more for an already modded car, than pay less for a stock one and build it up from scratch. the way they, and i view it is, why do work when some1 could have already done it 4 u? lol... but then again, i have a typical lazy teenagers attitude ;-)

Before I start have you ever tried Auto-RX? What do you have to lose?

In my opinion and from what I've seen, you will make more money selling it less AM parts. Also having the parts on the car, your target market will become very slim. Take them off and you open the market up to anyone looking for a daily driver

Aftermarket modifications will have value to some like minded individuals. However, the majority of buyers will avoid your car. Loud stereos and go fast mods ususally parallel owners that drive their cars hard. While it may work with a Corvette, Corolla's appeal to owners wanting reliability, fuel efficiency, and low cost. If you try to sell your car for more money, most people will rather look at newer vehicles with lower miles. I try look for single owner, well maintained, dlr serviced, full records and receipts, anal retentive, older, mechanically inclined owners and unmodified cars.

I would say you car is worth $1300-1800 given its condition and mods. If the engine was in very good condition with no aftermarket mods, maybe $2500-3000. If you really want to know, just look in your local paper for similar cars and pose as an interested buyer. Personally, I would run away. Sorry.

I bought a 95 Corolla with 138K mi. last year for $2700 cash. Since then, I put in new piston rings and valve seals, full tune-up parts, front rotors and brake pads, and 4 new tires. The car now has 147K mi. Unfortunately, I doubt I would be able to sell it for more than $3000. Consider money put into a used car as maintenance cost.

i know people who would rather buy an already modified car. If no one buys your corolla, the next route would definitely be parting out the modified parts and selling it in stock form. Good luck mate! LMK if you're parting out the rolla, i need parts! =)
