-- I have $2000 and I'm thinking on buying a new engine for my ae101. I look at the 4age 20v but its too expensive. And I was wondering if a celica engine fits; if not what other toyota engine fits????
your cheapeset bet would be the 20v or maybe looking at prices for 4agze's or older 16v's but any thing else will cost you alot more because of the custom work you will have to do
I am not a fan of the idea of a 20v, 4agze, or smallport because some people seem to forget when thinking of putting them in that they all take high octane and fuel right now isn't cheap

I run 87 on my JDM redtop....No problems..No pinging...RUns great.
eBay.com has lots of engines... of course you had already thought about them and maybe dimissed them... it's always nice to deal witha local business, but if you want another option, look..
And alot of them are in poor condition. I'd be weary of buying turbo stuff from ebay, let alone an engine that I cant inspect (even visually) before buying it.
So where can i get a new 20v and/or a loww milage one. Here in Puerto Rico I have to get a lot of paper work done do to japan imported engines; which is a whole lot of headaches. So looking for a US spec toyota engine is my best bet.
i dont care about the gas prices with my corolla, no matter how bad it gets itll never come close to my 4.0L in my cherokee in 4wd... anyway if it's really difficult to get jdm engines where you are (and the odd parts you'll need) your probably better off going with an engine that was available in north america like you said...
