Old-School Corolla question
From time to time I have searched for information or images of Corolla Vipers. "Back when they were new" (I had a '79 Celica ST coupe and '83 Corolla coupe during that time), I was living in middle-Georgia. Some dealer in the area was selling limited-edition Corolla and Celica models that had Viper designations (these were 80-83 models for the most part). In effect, they were usually lighter colored cars with black vinyl graphics on the side and the hood. They had the word Viper on them (usually rear 1/4 panel) a front air dam and finally a low whale-tail style spoiler that was a foam-like rubber with a snake-skin effect. Not sure of any interior or motor upgrades. There were also some Celicas running around as Vipers and also a different model with a "X" designation. These had the license plates moved to the bumper area, a solid red reflector between the rear lights (the reflectors had some form of letter designation on them starting with an "X" that I can't remember), and a rear wing. Most of these seemed to be hatch-backs.
I have never seen mention of these cars anywhere but I know they existed as I have seen at least 10+ of them when they were relatively new. I never saw a '84+ model and I do not believe I have seen any since the late 80's.
Any OG's on here ever hear of these?
