Question K&N Air Filter , worth putting in old Toyota?

K&N Air Filter ($40 + $10 oil kit) , worth putting in old Toyota? Either that or continue to buying paper filters at $8.00 a pop.

I would not use a K & N filter in any vehicle at any time. In my opinion they are noisy and offer less filtration than is required to protect and engine.

I feel the same way, I put one on my car and found I lost some pep and gas millage, It might have just been my imagination but I just replaced it with a paper filter

An air filters an air filter, it's just a matter of preference of how often you want to change them. Some people swear by K&N while others don't really like them.

S&B doesn't make a drop in filter for a 03-07 Corolla

Turns out the auto parts store I went to does not even list a K&N filter for a 1989 Toyota in their catalog. I think they start in about 1996? I think that is the oldest year in the K&N Air Filter book for Toyota.

But the website partsamerica.com ( Kragen Auto Parts ) lists them for my car at $46.99.
Replacement Air Filter
Part NUmbeR: E9107
$46.99

You won't feel a difference in performance due to vehicle being old. I would go with the cheapest option.

i have to disagree. there are so many types of air filter nowadays not all of them filter the same as others.

Gas mileage lost may be caused due to more air. Freer flowing from the filter, allows more in. Equals more fuel to compensate. Like ona colddd day how you run rich because of the air being denser.
