Weird fuel readings on 05 corolla

been driving my dad's corolla lately and realized that after the needle on the gas gauge reches half tank, the meter seems to drop as if I'm driving a car twice it's size. the gas consumption before half is great but I'm puzzled as to why the needle goes down so much faster after the guage is at half? I don't ever drive hard either. Also this scenario does not occur all the time, but it happens often enough for me to question it. it's an '05 CE if that helps.

I have an 03 and noticed the same thing...After doubling the millage at a half of tank I think to myself, wow I'm going to get some great millage then it starts going down like the Titanic....

Mine usually does this all the time but then starts to slow again in the last 1/4 tank...

I don't know if its because the tank is slanted, Looking at my manual it looks about the same but you can't really see the bottom half

Regular summer driving I get around 400 MPG...A few trips when everything went right and I didn't use my AC I got over 500 MPG, this winter was the worst, a few times I struggled to get300 MPG...

I usually get a total fill up a little bit after my warning light goes on but I could probably get another 50-60 till it went dry and when I fill up I squeeze in as much as I can especially if the price is right...
