air intake problem for 00 prizm

hi, guys, I was hit by other veichle at the left front side. and the air box which was located somewhere between the left side of the bumper and the plastic liner was broken in pieces. I dont even know if it's called air box. it's not the air filter house. it connects the air intake hose and the hose to the air filter house. and this box, I think, has some kind pre filter function. now, I have my car fixed. but air intake seems not so good. I have trouble to buy this "air box". do u guys have any idea about where I can buy this thing? and will that cause problem if I just leave that out? thx
and I also tried to find the "cold air intake system" to replace the whole air intake kit. however, I can only find the one for 90-97 corolla/prizm. can I use them for my 00 prizm? maybe it'll be hard to install the MAF sensor on the new system? thx a lot

i have an 01 prizm... but i have a cold air intake with it...

removed the whole air box and mine runs fine

you should make sure the 2 sensors that go into your airbox are in good condition... if the bigger of the 2 is messed up in anyway, it creates problems for the car

i bought my air intake kid on ebay... with a little modifications it fit perfect, and for only $35

EL Prototypes used to make one for the 98 and up Corollas, but it's quite hard to come by nowadays, try ebay every once in a while

i just searched ebay for an air intake for a 2001 toyota corolla for my car, so i'd say just search for a 2000 toyota corolla air intake for yours

it took me about 3 hours in total to put mine on (including running to the store and making my own parts)

the pipe they have me was a whole 4 inches long.. and only had a hole for 1 air sensor

so i had to get PVC piping, and then drill and file a hole down for the mass airflow sensor....

then had to rig how to mount the whole thing since it had none of the proper stuff with it....

in the long run it came out great, i was just really pissed off when i got the thing and realized it wasn;t what they had advertised...

same thing happened to my dad with his Aurora's air intake...

basically they give you the filter, and a crappy pipe (if you're looking at a cheap cheap one)
