Tweety Bird upon acceleration????

So I've been drivin' my '95 Prizm (1.6L/3sp auto) for about a year and a half now. All's been well. Nothin' except regular tuneup & fluid changes have netted great results.

BUT........

Ever since I've owned it, it's "tweeted" (for lack of a better word) upon acceleration. As the rpm's go up, the tweeting goes away (or is perhaps, drowned out by the engine) but I can typically hear it when I'm close to something........like driving down an alley where the sound reverberates back to me with the windows down.

My best guess would be the water pump, but I figured I'd throw it out here to see if there are things that make that obvious or not.

TIA!
