Hello Everyone,

I just noticed an annoying engine chirping noise in my 2003 Corolla. It sounds like a bunch of chirping birds or a field of loud crickets chirping all at once, especially when the car is idling or when I slow down. The noise seems to disappear when I accelerate or driving at constant speed. Someone told me it may be due to timing belt problems, but '03 Corollas have a timing chain.. Does anyone know the possible causes for the chirping noise?

Loose belt, as I think I said in the other topic (sorry if you are not the same poster). The timing belt is notched so it will not slip, odds are it is a serpentine belt if you hear it chirping.

I'm gonna call serpentine belt on this one. BTW 1ZZFEs are chain driven.. no timing belts.
