I know its impossible for Toyota to release a profitable recreation of the last RWD chassis corolla due to new safety and engineering standards (extra weight etc) but lets say for arguments sake they did (with the 4age bluetop), would you buy a new one for under 20,000CAD (adjusted for inflation from the mid 80's)
I know I would be first in line...but id feel guilty about stripping a new car and adding a rollcage!
Well if they had a 20V 4A-GE with VVT-i in it, it would be great, but not with a bluetop, might as well put in a 2nd gen 1ZZ instead of that for 140HP/125Tq. Or a 3S-GTE.
Think australian sportivo Corolla but RWD.... OR AWD!
i wouldnt want it.
i'm not a fan of any of the new car's styling these days

"boro boro boro
here we have a duct tape la la la
here we have an electrical tape du du du
here we have a coke can da da da
and then we have a downpipe!! boro boro boro"
thats the thing, I would want it to be exactly like it was, same design. maybe they can modify the interior just a little.
If I could afford a new car I'd get it.
Ya, the Corolla Sportivo would kick *** in AWD. But because I would not have the money I would not be able to buy one. But I'd definatly buy one new or off lease after I finish college.
Personally I'd be happy if they just gave us the IS200.
I would definitly get a 2004 AE86 and mod the hell out of it.
There's Nothing better than modifiying a brand new car.
I always love the look of the AE86 except it's hard to find one in a tip top condition.

Well just asking whether ppl would buy it before giving any hints at production specs would be inaccurate.
When u say 2004 AE86 what parts/elements of the ae86 survive in the new model? If it was a remake of hte old one with some modern anemities it would be nice... but as debated on TN before it would be illogical/unprofitable for Toyota to do so. Toyota is AWARE of the AE86's popularity, however we have to remember we are a niche... and not everyone and their dog will want an ae86 if it comes out...
Coming from an ae86 owner... I hope they just continue making parts for the old car... I'm happy knowing that the ae86 in garage will be the only "ae86" available on the market for a while.
Originally posted by Oldman well if they start making parts again, could theoretically put out a build it yourself kit...
You know another way to stop all this *****ing is to some how organize a bunch of AE86 enthusiests and just buy/license the design from Toyota and then sell AE86 kits.

What do you *****es think of that?
If it was viable, don't u think someone in Japan would have done that by now? :p
