How to put Corolla on jack stands

I searched but can not find anything. Can someone let me know how to safely jack up the car and put it on the jack stands. I need to do raise the front only and I can do one side at a time (doing strut replacement). The top of the jack stand is "Y" shaped and the rail where the factory jack fits is "I" shaped and very narrow/short, so i am afraid that when i lower the car on the jack stand, the tops of the "Y" might pierce through the body... Thanks.

I am assuming i have to use the floor jack positioned just behind the notch in the thin rail where the OEM jack goes, jack up the car, put jack stands under the notch and then lower the car. I am just not sure if i will damage the car this way due to the deep "Y" shape of the jack stands.
