cylinder sleeves

hey i got a 2000 corolla and i've been told that you can't bore/hone out the cylinder since it's made up of an alumium composite is this true? i need to know so i can get new rings put back into er

i'm pretty sure it's a cast iron block..... and it can be honed....

if it is an aluminum block, then you can resleeve it.... should be able to get them at the dealership....

I did a quick hone on my 98 just to knock the glaze off the cylinders when I re-ringed it. 2,500 miles later and things seem to be going well - especially not burning oil!
