Help Drained Transmission Fluid 2004 Corolla!

ok I accidentally drained the tranny fluid instead of the engine oil while trying to do an oil change on wifes car. So now I'm looking for the trans. fill plug so I can refill it. If anyone can tell me where and how to properly fill up the trans. fluid that would be great. A friend told me I can fill it from the tranny oil dip stick. I've downloaded the repair manual from the forum but I can't find the how to replace trans. fluid. It's a 2004 corolla ce automatic.

Heh, I did the exact same thing on the exact same car.

I drop by my mom's house to change the oil on her '04 CE every now and then, and the first time I changed the oil on her new '04 CE I had drained the tranny fluid and double-filled the oil.

I didn't even realize what had happened until she called me three days later and told me that her car was seizing up while she was on the way to the grocery store.

So, I panicked and called the dealer and asked them what to do.

They said that the automatic tranny cannot be completely drained by removing the drain plug, so it is likely the tranny was not seriously damaged.

Anyway, to refill an automatic transmission, just pour the ATF fluid into the dip stick holder.

You should be able to buy the tranny fluid from any retailer not just the dealer. Just be sure to match the specs/type from the owners manual. Also check the manual for the approx.quantity to add. Get a small neck funnel and add it slowly to bring it up to the proper level. Don't overfill.

I have posted before without any answer.
This is it again,
“I am having what could be a serious problem with my almost new Corolla 2004 with only 8000 miles.
If I leave the car parked for say more than a week, I then start it, and try to go into reverse the car takes (lags) like 5 or 6 seconds to sort of engage the gear.
At first it sort of like starts to go but not fully (slips) and after that it goes solid in to reverse.
I hope you understand my explanation??
Dealer has preformed the hydraulic test, reset the memory, and changed the ATF oil.”
The problem remains and it is an enormous causality that I thought that one of the possibilities for this slipping might be that in the 10 000 Km. service the mechanic that changed the engine oil may in fact had a similar error and ended up by filling the Auto
Transmission with engine oil instead of the ATF.
Please, can anyone respond as to what damage can that produce.
In my case I used the car for about 4000Km. or 2400 Miles.
Is their any other reason as to why it slips when cold or is that “normal” as the dealer assured me???
Thanks for any advice!!!!
