Battery Problem??

Hi, maybe you guys can confirm my findings or suggest new things.

over night, my battery seem to have just died, i tried to start it yesterday morning, i hear a click and nothing else, so i use an external battery, jump started with no problem... same thing after work....

So I took a voltmeter, did some testing:

Car Idle, battery is 12.96V
Car just turned off, 12.96V after 20 min, 12.80V
Disconnected -ve terminal, left over night, in the morning, 12.30V

When i tried to start it this morning, its sounded like theres not enough battery, so does that mean my battery just died over night? or can it be something else.

First of all, you should be having 13-14.4V coming out of your alternator. Second, sounds more like you have a short, or something thats causing the battery to drain... Although a battery can break over night even. So dont count that out either, you can get the battery tested.

do this.... test the amp load on the battery when the car is off and all the accesories are turned off... just like u leave it overnight.... there should be no more than a 2mA load on it... if u get that load then its your battery... also what u can do, before u park ur car for the night, take the battery completely out, and put it back in the morning, and if the car still dont start u know its the battery that is bad
