Low fuel light

My 01 corolla LE doesn't have a low fuel light. I haev been on E and ran out of gas and it doesn't turn on. I thought that it would be a standard fature, but I could be wrong. Im also thinking the light went bad, any help on this one guys?

Only in winter.

The gas light in most Corollas is known to come on a very early stage. I sometimes find almost 1/3 of the tank left when I go fill up.

running your corolla with less than 1/4 tank of gas puts unnecessary wear and tear on your fuel pump.

If you knew you were on "E", and you knew you were going to need gas anyway, why not do the smart thing and fill it up?

Not really, the fuel pump doesnt know if theres 1/4th tank left, as long as it gets fuel its ok.
