Thumbs up i think i got some gains from a glasspack..!

i got some GAINS from installing a 2" glasspack/cherrybomb?? because, before, the thing ran like crapp when it was 1st installed, and then i re-tuned the carb and the car seems like its got more torrque. cuz, id swear, i dont hafta push on the gas pedal as hard to make the car move at the same speed it did before the install

is it possible, or just in my head??

maybe it's the excessive noise from your exhaust getting to your head thats making you think this way

Sorry to bust your bubble, but retuning a stock carb doesnt do much either. The mixture screw only affects idle.

If he was not getting the right air/fuel mixture due to it being untuned he would absolutely lose no power due to that?

You wouldnt feel it anywhere except idle, your idle would be lumpy, but when you'd get on the progression jets, it would be normal.

All of the other jets are fixed and you'd need to take the carb apart to adjust them.

All I gained from a couple of glasspacks (I have true dual exhaust on my 69 with 2 2-1 headers) was the ability to set off car alarms when I drove through parking decks. Plus the added bonus of every cop for two miles around to hear me coming. I now have two big ol regular mufflers and like it just fine. Stealth racing = less tickets.
