Question Am i getting ripped off?

2001 Chevy Prizm/2001 Toyota Corolla

front CV joint is going...

called the local auto place, they said

Drivers Side CV Joint = $111 (parts and labor)

Drivers Side Drive Axle = $230 (parts and labor)

does this sound reasonable to anyone who's had something like this done?

Sounds fair to me but they are not using OEM parts. Here in O.C I get the after market axels for 49.00 with a lifetime warranty.

same here... but I think I pay $65 for driver side half-axle and $90 for passenger side. Plus they will replace the axle flange seal. That alone, seals the deal. As the dnager of doing it yourself, the hard work , and possiblity of the axle seal leaking tranny oil, if enough to pay that price. If you screw up the axle seal, the tranny oil leak alone would make you wish you had it done right.
