Question on sparkplugs

I have read that pre-gapped spark plugs are a bad thing. Is that true? I've been using:

http://www.boschautoparts.com/Produc...lugs/Platinum4

and they seem to work fine for my daily driver. Is the whole "don't use pre-gapped" thing just for racers? Or is there a long term or performance benefit from something like:

http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/product...r_platinum.asp

Or is it just one of those things that people argue over endlessly, with no real proof.

Well im not sure what others have to say but if ur asking about the bosch spark plugs i honestly think they are just expensive POS, but as far as being pregapped or not it really shouldn't make a bit of difference just as long as the plug is properly gapped. I think the major difference is what the plug is made of, personaly i like copper plugs, but ive heard that alot of times different engines work better with different plug types.

Multiple gap plugs come always with electrodes pre-gapped, because gapping them by yourself doesnt usually work out too well.

I dont see any problem with "pre-gapped" plugs, its alot easier for you the consumer to just get them and put them in, rather than start gapping them. A plug is a plug.

I've tried splitfire, bosch platinum + 4, and regular plugs. I've never seen any noticeable difference in power, fuel efficiency, etc. from between these plugs. I have seen that the platinum plugs seem to last a little longer, but that may not even be true. IMHO, I don't see the need to spend a ridiculous amount on plugs which offer no discernable performance or fuel efficiency gains. Just my $.02.

Good enough for me! I figured it was bullshit. I couldn't see how the plug could make much of a difference, as long as it is gapped correctly (reguardless if it is permenantly gapped, or if you are gapping it).
