4afe rings r gone

hey guys hows it goin? umm my rings have gone after i recently got my head rebuilt on my alltrack. is there anything i can do to stop the valves being burnt out again, or further damage tho the rings until i can afford a rebuild? also i recently fitted a pod filter and realised that once i get to about 4500-5000 rpm it really screams. is this just my engines powerband?

I'm not sure if the rings and valves are from the same problem. I dont think you'd be running lean and detonating them either. Valves often burn if the valve clearances are misadjusted.

i was told by mechanic that the valves went because of the carbon build-up arount the valve and valve seat, and that cause the valve to burn out

does that sound right?

Shouldnt happen with modern fuels and if you've been driving the car normally.
Plus I dont see how carbon would build up on the valve seat.

Check the valve clearance with a feeler gauge and the manual. If they check out, a cheap thing to try if you can do it yourself is valve seals.

If its burning oil, its most likely valve seals or rings.
