Auto-xer interested in AE86

I am an auto-xer, and an SR20 guy at heart, but I have become interested in the 86 due to what I have heard about it's handling potential. I have an NX2000 now (and am keeping it, thanks), but used to have an '85 MR2 w/ 4AGLEC, I miss RWD, and the 86 is supposed to be really lightweight, right? I like the S13 240SX, being the Nissan fan I am, but they are everywhere, and a little heavier. I race in STS, where the fastest cars nationally are lightweight '89 Civics.

Anyway, just wanting to know how competitive it can be, and also would appreciate anyone pointing me toward where I can find spec's on the car (weight, dimensions, HP, etc.), and what to look for. TIA

-Kelly

with the money u will spend restoring that thing and bringing it up to a good enough condition for it to handle autox abuse, u may as well get a gen1 miata.
it's lighter, smaller, faster and will outhandle the 86. :p

if u have a ton of cash and alot of time on your hands get it... if u don't want to put up with that and have to have someone else fix/change things for you (ie not a do-it-yourselfer) don't get an ae86

http://forums.club4ag.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4432

but if u want a prepared car that is one of the best in the gta I can point u in the right direction if u have the cash for it

Agreed, and its not only the wight of the car that makes her a good track-devil... its partly because she's ballanced so well. Even distribution accross the board.
