1986 FXGT Corolla.....starting problem when hot

Hi All,

Maybe someone can help steer me in the right direction.

1986 FXGT Corolla, great little car lots of Km's but does well doesnt use any oil yet at 386,000km.....however i have a small problem

car always starts well cold....
if car has been run hot for over 15 mins ish and then the car is turned off for maybe less than 5 mins and re start, it wont start......starter is cranking but just doesnt want to light off.

Any thoughts, has got brand new, plugs, leads, dizzy cover, have cleaned out throttle body...it is fuel injected.
I can only think now of fuel pump or starter itself...?

any help greatly appreciated

Regards Mark

if it cranks, its not the starter.

If the fuel pump turns on, its most likely not it.

Will the starter crank until you could kill the battery? or does it just click??

Hi,

yeah could hold the starter on till it cranks the battery dead....
usually walking away from the situation for 5 mins seems to do the trick

Exclamation

Weak/Bad starters usually show up when the engine is hot and hot weather.

Sounds to me like a fuel delivery problem, not a starter problem.
