air resonator

2001 chevy prizm

i have a cold air intake so the air resonator is just sitting there taking up space...

how hard is it to remove this? and is the entire function of that just to quiet the intake?

well according to online what i found was that the box located just front of the front left tire was the air resonator, and many people had taken it off and put the intake down there,

Ah that box, yes can be removed with no issue.

Its function is mostly to make it hard to suck up water/debris and yes it also will silence the intake a bit.

But since you have an aftermarket intake (with a pod i'm guessing) it's doing nothing. Peice of cake to remove, just have to take out the inner guard.
