well this my second post and now i want to see what you guys think. i own an sr5 and i am thinking of a 13b swap you know just to feel all the love i can get . ive heard that they get pretty beefy and that you dont need to spend alot of cash so if anyone has any suggestions please write back or if there is another swap that can be done and not spend to much green. thnx. P.S. something besides a 4ag
freakin, most of the time when people ask questions like 1)Is it a good swap 2)what do I have to do to swap X-engine into my car 3)How much power can I get, etc. Most of the time those people arent qualified/skilled to do a swap like that. Things get alot more complicated when you do a swap with a non-native engine.
How many times have you seen the people here who actually do swaps, Ren, Dr Tweak, Me, Mike, etc ask these questions? Pretty much never.
Hence the cost would go up like a rocket if you have to have it done at a shop.
Hey, I have an AE92 SR5. What model is yours?
I've been thinking of eventually doing a 3S-GTE swap, have the engine. Mu-ha ha ha...
I've heard there's a guy in Montreal Canada that's done this, just not sure how much fabrication is involved.

Sure, but if information isn't really available when you search for it, not going to hurt to ask questions to someone who's done it before. Might save some headaches.
But yeah, I know what you mean about asking vague questions.
Actually theres a shitload of information. Most engine swaps are general engine info anyways. One doesnt have to make a swap following abc-directions like assembling an ikea shelf. You just have to use common sense and figure out how to make things work. The information doesnt have to be exact, you just have to learn how to adapt it.
Thats where experience comes to play, I learned doing it myself, nobody knew the answers and alot of people dont have the time to be there to guide your hand in every small detail. I read from books, then I had schooling for it. Plus since I've been doing automotive stuff now for a while, I've also gained experience.
Asking some questions are fine, but when you really start asking all the basic questions, that you already have to know by heart to do it. Thats when I lose my patience, because I can tell when someone cant do the swap and they shouldnt even try. Helping online doesnt do much, because you have to be there to guide someone, you cant diagnose engine problems or do engine swaps miles away infront of a computer screen.

you missed out on the most important piece of information.
Back on topic, I'd love to see that 12a or 13b or whichever swap you do, let us know how it goes. It's been done before, but it will prove tough to find info on this swap.
if its an RWD car is fuckin' easy. Make custom mounts and aim the gearbox to the same orientation as on the stock engine, then just get the driveshaft made to fit. tadaa...
might be tricker on a FWD one, imagine a 13b turbo AE92 corolla
