Cheap exhaust
I've a 94 corolla 1.6 for which I'm trying to get emissions testing done.
Theres a rust and a hole at the connection of the cat and the pipe behind it. I can also feel air through the flex part of the flex pipe. That means I should get 3 parts, exhaust pipe, cat conv and the center pipe. For the labor the quote at Canadian Tire is $170 (2 hours).
Therefore it sounds like $600+ for the sake of two holes. Do I have better options?
There are foils to repair static pipes. How can I repair flex pipes?
One hole is at the brackets of the cat conv and center pipe having eaten away at both. How can I repair a rusty hole at the junction of 2-bolt bracket? I thought of using cement and putting a ring over it to hold it.
Lastly, I've been having trouble with rusty bolts. Before I head out to the junkyards, how do you guys deal with rusty bolts?
The last time I was pulling a muffler from a junkyard, one bold was holding on and my tools just bit the head of the bolt off. I had to manoevor around the muffler until the bolt broke, but not before bending the brackets all over. Is there a chemical or a different way to deal with that?
