The salesman will say anything... Mine sold me my car and "someone" took the cd clip out of the cd changer in the trunk before i got it. It's more than likely does not play them. If your intent on mp3's you can try an mp3 player and use a wireless transmitter tuned to your radio freq. to play them, however i am not sure if you might want that or not.
another sleazy salesman, I'll be placing a call tomorrow to bitch
Yea he is sleezy for giving out misinfo because he is a salesman. Stop placing blame, its also your fault for not doing your research ahead of time. Check out Toyota.Com, under Corolla and options, no where does it say it is MP3 capable.
What if the salesman is just dumb? he could be new.
No offense to any salesman but so far most of the ones I've encountered are. Besides reading info from the brochure they're not really good at answering technical questions. Salesman should take classes in getting educated in what they sell and not just on how to sell them. example - only one sales guy out of the six knew of what an Corolla XRS was.

Hey buddy - the Standard CD player that comes in the corolla can play MP3s. I got the upgraded 6-cd changer and I asked the salesman (That is his job to provide correct anwsers not for me to do research!!) if this can be used for MP3s as well. He said yes.
Its not my fault at all for him to misguide a customer for a sale. Does anyone else agree with me on this?

The salesman that lied to you really does suck, but everyone really should do their research before buying a car... I don't believe the standard player in the new corollas does MP3s... It is rather sad that the cheaper Yaris does MP3s (if you buy a yaris that has a deck) and the higher model Corolla does not.

LMAO !!! Had a similar experience when we were shopping for the new Corolla (or Matrix) in '05 .... told the salesman I did NOT want to test drive the XRS for fear of falling in love with it (car is wife's, didn't need a car requiring premium gas), and he told me they all had the same motor - that there was no 180 (or whatever) hp corolla .... dunghead !!! 'Tis a damn shame when you walk into a dealership knowing more about what they sell than the folks actually selling them...bassturds !!! We ended up buying a Phantom Grey Corolla S (and, no, our 6 disc player does not support mp3 discs....and they highly discourage using any kind of burned disc, as apparently they are slightly thinner (???) and can jam in the changer - happened to my brother in his Maxima, so not willing to risk it in our car, although I have played a CDA burned disc once, and it worked sounded fine ... dunno 'bout mp3, though...)
Have you tried burning the Cd using Windows Media Player? i had a CD changer that wouldnt play straight mp3's but when i used WMP they worked, i believe the default format for WMP is WMA.
As for the disk with the folders, i can almost guarantee any cd player isnt going to be able to play that cd, as it has no OS to know to look in the folders for music.
