Australia AE101R problem or normal?

Hi All, (AE101r, 1.6L, 5 sp)

My girls rolla seems to almost bunny hop when letting off the throttle in first or second gears and letting it coast along. For example, low speed traffic in second of first gear incites a very evident back-forth rocking of the car. Her foot is not on the throttle at all when this happens. I had the timing checked and clutch replaced last week, this made no differnce to the problem. (The clutch was stuffed though )

Is this normal or can it be fixed, i.e possible engine mounts?

Any insight is appreciated, thanks..

it has only done 100,000 miles, thought the engine mounts would have lasted longer than this.....

its got me stumped.

maybe because you have low profile tires and stiff suspension and eat the potholes?

Define "last". I think Porsche recommends changing engine mounts at 30K miles......

My RSX had broken front mount at 50K - probably much earlier but I didn't know for sure until I removed them all and replaced them with solid polyurethane mounts.....

I'd point my fingers at soft motor mount bushings as well. The actual mount is probably fine, it's the bushings that soften up over time.

Define last?

My camrys engine mounts were 14 years and 250,000km old when they were replaced... they only had just started to cause problems.

So I thought a 9 year old rolla with only 100,000 miles would have mounts that are half decent... doe anyone else have this problem with their corollas?

Manuals are alway harder on engine mounts, mine were shot in my levin when I bought it (with 140,000km).

I wouldn't bother replacing them unless it gets bad.
