Rebuild or swap?

Hi folks!

Well, my 92 tranny is toast. I'm wondering if anyone has done their own re-build before? Do you think it's worth it to rebuild, or should I just look for one at the junk yards in town? A total kit costs anywhere from $100 - $200. The cheapest junkyard tranny I've found is $500!

The problem with a Tranny from a j/y is no guarentee, however unless you are really anal I would not suggest you attempt the rebuild yourself

Most of the wrecking yards here have the parts already pulled. I guess that's the reason for the $$$.

My brother bought a tranny for a Civic a couple of weeks ago along with parts for a 5 speed swap for around $140.
Saw a AE92 GTS there that same day.
