Corolla AE101

hi, i have a problem with my toyota corolla its a AE101 1997 when i start the car it revs up to 2000RPM and it goes up slowly, does any one else have this kind of a problem? any suggestions would be great

I agree, the computer will do this to warm up the motor faster, specially when its cold outside. The revs come down once the motor is at a normal temperature.

oh right, ive tried that, and i just phoned up toyota they told me its a common problem and a part called the wax stat would need replacing as it has a hole which is normal but its getting bigger and bigger ! thanks for your help much appreciated!
