Changing gauge clsuter

OK im gonna out a new one on my 2005 corolla S, changing from the stock S to a Optitron(sp?) gague out of a LE and the milage on them is different... where can I go for the to roll the milage up from 8K which is on the new one to 53K which is on mine now... or what else can I do to stay legal here, my goes is to NOT make the car have less milage but just a easier to see gauge cluster at night

not like ive done it b4, but, the milage is driven by the speedo cable "if it is cable". So all you have to do is turn the thingy at the back of the cluster, untill you reach your current milage. If its a sensor type, dont know what to tell ya.

I don't think you have enough time this year to turn it enough.
That thingie takes a lot of turning. A 195/50/15 tire turns 889 times per mile.

Your best bet is to have a document drawn up and certified of the cluster and milage change, if the DOT will go with that. Otherwise your title will have to say that the milage is not accurate. Or just don't sell the car until it hits about 100K, unles in your state they check the milage when you do your inspection.

Modification: Changing something to what you thought it should have been from the start!

the dealer can certify the mileage difference. I'm not sure about the procedure, but they'll put a note on the doorframe (or wherever the other information is written down). you should probably just go the service department and start asking around.

Otherwise, if it's a digital odometer, you might even be able to move the odometer unit to the new cluster (like with the 99-2002 corollas).
