I am getting ready to swap 91 brake setup into my 88 and have every thing but the pads. I am posting this to see what everyone here uses and recomends when it comes to pads.
Should I go with oem replacement over performance? What performance pads would one recomend?
I drive very "spirited" and would like the best stopping power possible for a reasonable price.
Raybestos ceramics are ok. I actually dig the Toyota pads with Power Slot or Brembro blank rotors. Don't go with Hawk HPS pads. They suck because they are noisy and extremely dusty.
Well bendix makes brake systems too... Plus they got some really high performance pads.
The metal king plus brakes are semi metallic brakes, that have been used in track cars with success.

hahaha.. i'd swear by Hawk pads for track use.

Thanks for the input. I went to the Bendix site because Ive heard good things about them B4 but their site jsut led me around in circles. I had read their descriptions on the pads and I like the sounds of one in particular but I cant find another dealer that lists anything besides "Bendix brake pads", No description on the type just plain "pads...".
Anyone know of a dealer that has a usable site and decent prices?
Anyone ever heard of Performance Plus Brakes?

If you want a pad that bites harder than stock, but don't mind a little dust and noise, go with TRD or Hawk.
Otherwise, if you do mostly street driving and want them to be quiet, then stick to OEM pads.

For what it's worth, one recommendation here for Akebono ceramics. Almost no noise, light dust, with my setup I can drop from 100 to 35 in under 2 seconds.
