01 Corolla with oil leak
I have a 01 Corolla which has been good with the exception of a small oil leak. The leak in coming from the belt area. The dealer has replaced the Timing Chain Tensioner 3 time(twice under warranty. 51K to 110K) and the leak is still there. Here is the latest diagnosis:
"Oil Leaking from timing cover, will need to replace valve cover gasket. cust will not be charged to T/C Tensioner part and labour and shampoo enging. $400 + tax"
What are the chances that the tensioner was never leaking and the problem has always been the gasket?
Does the timing belt get replaced at 96K?
Also I've noticed a bit of noise coming from the drive belt area.
