4A FE Missing Problem

hi,
have a corolla, 1.6 93. basically it is not running right and is missing. changed spark plugs, ignition leads, distributor cap, o2 sensor, but still engine is missing. checked each cylinder by removing ignition leads whilst car is on and no. 3 is the one that is not firing. i take the lead out and no change whatsoever. when i take the other ones out the engine starts stuttering etc even more.
anyone have any ideas????

ps. the engine was changed a couple of years back and instead of a corolla engine, a carina engine was fitted. still 4afe though. was running right, then one day started doing this!!!!

thanks

It's probably not missing, the 4afe is jsut a tiny girly little motor, get out a magnafying glass, it's probably there and you just can't see it.

if the plug is wet when that cylinder isnt getting spark but is getting fuel. what you need to do is figure out why that one cylinder isnt getting spark or is getting spark at the wrong time. check for moisture, make sure the wires are on in the right order, and in a very dark place watch the engine bay for arcing wires. did you remember to change the rotor as well as the cap?
